The Future of Adding Zero

Hey guys, I'm sure you're wondering what's been going on for the past couple months. This keeps happening, I know. Sorry about that, just sometimes I can't really control my motivation and I end up forgetting about the comic for a while. So here's what happened.

Last Time on the Life of Afro
At college I had a project that encompassed the whole class. Long story short, I didn't do it well and had to do it over the summer. This often took up a lot of my time and made me less and less motivated to work on the comic because I would boot up GIMP but then get reminded of the project and end up working on that instead. It was very intensive and tedious and still has not been graded yet. I hate that.

In addition, I was also working on getting a job and driver's license, both of which happened! Woop woop! Both took up a lot of time and the job really drains me unfortunately. While it's not a very hard job, I get home pretty late in the day and by then I don't have much motivation to really work on the comic, especially since the next one put me at a point where I just could not think of a good punchline. I really need to work on not worrying about having a punchline, that's been slowing me down a lot.

Comic Making
Honestly, I'm kind of getting to the point where I don't know whether or not I want to reboot this again. As much as I like the plot of this one, I originally planned for Adding Zero to be less "ongoing plot" and random jokes with short, interesting arcs that develop the characters better and give them more interaction.

If I do end up rebooting, which I'm kind of 50-50 on at the moment, I'll make it fit in. I'm lucky I stopped where I did because I can work from the last comic to reboot this. Essentially, I'd just cut out the next few floors in favor of hurrying it along. Nothing too fancy. Again, I'm thinking about it but I don't want to cut them out just because it's easy. I'm still getting to the comic that I wanted, I'm just not there yet.

September 16
That date doesn't really have any significance. It would be a week or so after I got back to school so I could get into the swing of college before I begin updating again. Ironically enough, I'll have MUCH more time than I do now (having a job is nice but I have very little time). That means I should be alright to continue updating at a normal pace. Plus this semester should be a lot easier so we'll see.

I would LOVE to continue updating this month but I don't want to put the date in there and chance it. When I restart, I want to make sure I have enough time to really focus on the comic.

Other Projects
I actually have two other projects, believe it or not.

The first is a project that will be coming sometime after school starts. A few friends and I will be starting up a Let's Play channel and playing mostly Nintendo games. You guys already know my brand of humor but have never heard me actually talk about video games so I hope you'll be pleasantly surprised. Update schedule for that will be posted whenever we finish the art for the page. Still coming up with a good name for it...

The second project is, well, fanfiction. I get extremely bored at work so I often let my mind wander. At some point I got bored enough to think of an idea for a Mario fanfiction and I got enough ideas that I just put 'em to paper. Unfortunately, I will say that unlike this comic, this is NOT a family friendly comic. It's not even SFW honestly. If you're really interested, you can find me on If you have any questions on that or really want me to link it for some reason, just let me know.

Closing Remarks
That's pretty much it guys. I hope all of these random breaks in the story aren't killing it for you. I imagine they get annoying and I really am sorry for that.

In any case, leave some comments if you have any questions. Please leave them on the comic page though so I can see/respond to them easier.

Thanks again guys! Have a good one.
